Details of Tragic Bicycle Collision

On May 27, 2024, our client was walking along the East Lake Sammamish Trail. As she attempted to turn left to exit the trail through her residence gate, she was struck from behind by a cyclist traveling approximately 15 mph. She was immediately transported to Overlake Hospital.

The collision caused multiple head injuries, including skull fractures and brain bleeding, which required emergency surgery to relieve pressure on her brain. Due to the severity of her injuries, T.T. remained hospitalized for a month and received intensive treatment to begin the long recovery.

Tragically, the incident permanently altered her life. Our client now suffers from severe impairments that require 24/7 supervision. The impact on her family has been equally devastating, as her. husband has delayed his retirement to maintain the family’s income while serving as her primary caregiver.

Litigation Process and Settlement Recovery

Our team pursued aggressive litigation on her behalf and worked closely with medical and liability experts to demonstrate the full extent of the Defendant’s negligence and the devastating nature of T.T.’s permanent injuries. We argued that the Defendant failed to safely operate his bicycle and pay adequate attention to pedestrians using the shared public trail.

After 14 months of litigation, the case settled on July 15, 2025.
