Attorney Chris Davis has filed a $5 million claim on behalf of the mother of Ceasar Medina, a 17-year-old boy who was shot to death by a felon who should have been behind bars. An error in the Washington State Department of Corrections' computer system resulted in the early release of an estimated 3,200 prisoners.
"Jeremiah Smith should have been behind bars when that robbery took place. It's incomprehensible, it's inexplicable how this kind of thing could happen. It's really no different in my view than that the department knows of a hole in the wall in the prison, and they know that offenders are getting out, and they don't do anything to stop it. They delay patching up the wall."
