SETTLEMENT: Boating Accident Settles For $1.3 Million

The attorneys at Davis Law Group, P.S. are pleased to announce that they have reached a boating accident settlement agreement with State Farm Insurance Co. regarding a propellor accident that left a minor child with a broken femur, among many other serious injuries caused by the boat’s propellor.

Note: Due to potential confidentiality clauses, Davis Law Group is unable to explicitly identify the plaintiff in this case by name and will refer to him as D.A.

According to official records, the county sheriffs' office received a 911 call claiming that a minor child had been seriously injured in a boating accident on a nearby lake. An officer was dispatched to the scene of the incident and arrived to find Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responders already providing treatment to D.A., the injured victim, who had suffered a broken leg and multiple severe lacerations after being struck by a boat’s propellor.

The accident allegedly occurred when the boy’s uncle – who had been pulling another family member behind the boat on water skis at the time – lost sight of the boy and felt the boat strike something. After the engine shut off, the boy’s uncle realized he had struck D.A. with the boat’s propellor.

The boy was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MNa nearby medical center trauma until, to receive treatment for his injuries. According to official documents, the boy’s injuries included, but are not limited to:

  • Broken femur and pelvis
  • Dislocated hip
  • Broken shin bones
  • Severe lacerations to legs and feet

After more than a year negotiating with State Farm Insurance Co., Davis Law Group was able to reach a $1.3 million settlement agreement to resolve the matter.
