Attorney Chris Davis, founder of Davis Law Group, P.S., has filed a civil lawsuit in Snohomish County Superior Court (17-2-12393-31) on behalf of a Lynnwood man and his wife who were injured in a 2015 rental car accident near Mountlake Terrace, WA.

In April 2015, the plaintiff was operating a motor vehicle eastbound on 220th Street SW in Snohomish County, Washington.  Plaintiff’s wife was a passenger in the vehicle.  Defendant was operating a rental car in the westbound turnlane of 220th Street SW.  Plaintiff was approaching the intersection of 220th Street SW and 64th Avenue West on a solid green traffic light--traveling at or below the posted speed limit.

The defendant was attempting to make a left-hand turn at the intersection 220th Street SW and 64th Avenue West on a solid green traffic light.  As the plaintiff proceeded through the intersection on a solid green traffic light, the defendant suddenly and without warning turned left in front of plaintiff’s vehicle.

The plaintiff had no reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision with Defendant’s vehicle.  The plaintiff struck the Defendant’s vehicle on the rear passenger side.  The defendant was cited for “Failure to yield right-of-way.”

The plaintiff was trapped in the crushed vehicle and the airbags.  The plaintiffs sustained serious bodily injuries and other damages as a result of the collision that required three seperate surgeries.

Rental Car Drivers & Accidents

Rental cars experience a higher collision rate per registered vehicle compared to nonrental cars.  Before you drive car rental, it’s critical that you take the time to familiarize yourself with the vehicle’s layout and features.  And take extra caution when driving in unfamiliar areas.

A recent online poll found that 22 percent of those who rent a car do not know if their auto insurance or credit card provided liability and collision coverage on a rental car.
