PRESS RELEASE: ‘National Safety Month' Focuses on Teen Driving Safety

Posted on Jun 09, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 9th, 2010- Seattle, WA - Seattle's Davis Law Group is pleased to announce its continued support of the National Safety Commission's "National Safety Month." This week's topic of awareness is Teen Driving Safety. Teen driving accidents are the main cause of death for teens over 15 years old in the United States. Davis Law Group founder Chris Davis wants to change these statistics.

Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury for U.S. teens between the ages of 15-19. The death toll is equivalent to about 17 deaths per day for people involved in teen driver crashes. For teens, the likelihood of being in a crash is at a lifetime high in the first 12 months and 1,000 miles of driving.

In Washington State, the new cell phone law going into effect does not allow teen drivers to use their cell phones in any capacity while behind the wheel. Mixing inexperience with distraction is a recipe for disaster and the Washington State law makers stepped in and made the proper change. With eliminating teen cell phone use while driving is one of the many safety tips provided by the National Safety Commission, Washington citizens should take pride that their local government is ahead of the curve.

As National Safety Month's second weekly focal point, Teen Driving Safety is something that can be improved upon. By parents taking steps such as setting a curfew, establishing a zero tolerance alcohol and drug policy, and making the graduating license a family law, teens will be much less likely to be killed, kill another, or sustain serious injuries.

After helping thousands of personal injury victims pursue legal action, Davis authored a series of books which he offers as a public service free of charge. Each book is designed to help victims and their families navigate the legal process when they or a loved one, have been seriously injured due the negligence of another.

"Working from the premise that „knowledge is power,‟ I hope my books and the efforts of organizations that support National Safety Month will help educate the public on ways to prevent injuries, save innocent lives and improve the ability to protect victim's rights."

Davis has authored The Ten Biggest Mistakes that Can Wreck Your Accident Case, When The Dog Bites: The Essential Guide To Dog Bite Claims, Little Kids, Big Accidents: What Every Parent Should Know about Children and Accidents, Wrongful Death in Washington State, and his latest book, Washington Injury Law: A Reference Guide for Accident Victims

National Safety Week is sponsored by the National Safety Council along with additional sponsorship provided by John Deere, Toyota Motor Company and Walmart.
