Seattle Attorney Offers Legal Guide for Dog Bite Victims
May 22, 2012 – Seattle, WA – Dog bite attorney Chris Davis is re-releasing his book When the Dog Bites: The Essential Guide to Dog Bite Claims in Washington State in conjunction with National Dog Bite Prevention Week, May 20-26, 2012. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) uses National Dog Bite Prevention Week to raise awareness, encourage safety, and to attempt to reduce the number of dog bites.
According to the AVMA, approximately 4.7 million people are bitten by dogs in the United States each year. Children are the most likely to be severely injured by a dog bite, with approximately 400,000 child dog bite victims receiving medical attention annually.
“Sometimes, dog bites result in very serious physical injuries,” said attorney Chris Davis. “Other times, there may be little physical trauma but a lot of emotional trauma, especially if the victim is a child.”
Every dog bite case is unique and can vary significantly in terms of severity, required medical treatment, and potential legal recourse. Davis’ book, When the Dog Bites, is designed to pave the way for those who wish to better understand their rights after suffering from an attack.
“My goal is to provide people with empowering resources so that if they, a family member, or a friend is bitten by a dog they know what to do,” Mr. Davis adds. “It can be a tough road to face alone.”
The book, which spans more than 80 pages, includes everything from basic facts about dog bites to a step-by-step guide through the legal process. When The Dog Bites is published by Word Association Press and is available both in hardcopy and as an ebook for $19.95 at Amazon.com. As a public service to citizens in Washington State, Mr. Davis will provide a free copy of the book to dog bite victims or their families at www.washingtonaccidentbooks.com.
