Resident Dies In Assisted Living Facility When Elderly Woman Drives Into Building
Bennett v. Eden's Villa, LLC, et al
Attorney Chris Davis, founder of Davis Law Group, P.S., has filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of the estate of LaVonne T. Bennett. Ms. Bennett was tragically killed on May 9, 2017 when an 88-year-old woman drove her car into Eden’s Villa, an adult nurshing home/rehabilitation center located at 10714 38th Ave NE in Seattle.
The Eden’s Villa building houses elderly residents who needed full and/or part time living assistance. The lawsuit, filed by attorney Chris Davis in King County Superior Court, alleges that Defendants Elaine Babb And Eden’s Villa both acted recklessly and/or negligently leading to the death of LaVonne Bennett.
According to the complaint for damages, defendant Elaine Babb parked her vehicle in the Eden’s Villa parking lot next to the assisting living building to visit someone in the building. When she was leaving the property, she got into her vehicle and turned on the ignition. However, instead of putting the vehicle in reverse she put the vehicle in forward gear. She accelerated and the vehicle burst forward where it crashed into and through the front wall of the Eden’s Villa building. When the vehicle came to rest, at least half of the vehicle had entered into the interior of the building.
The vehicle had crashed through one of the bedroom’s located on the lower level of the building. The bedroom belonged to LaVonne T. Bennett (age 72). Ms. Bennett had been sitting in a recliner chair when Babb’s vehicle crashed through and into Ms. Bennett’s bedroom. Babb’s vehicle struck and ran over Ms. Bennett with tremendous force. As a result of the collision Ms. Bennett suffered massive and life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
