Lawsuit Filed Against Boys & Girls Clubs of King County For Child Pedestrian Accident

Posted on Jan 06, 2020

Davis Law Group, has filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of a child who was in the care of Boys & Girls Clubs of King County when he was struck by a car near Steel Lake Park in Federal Way.  Read the court filings.

In September 2014, the twelve-year-old boy suffered a skull fracture when he was struck by a vehicle while on a late-afternoon supervised outing organized by Boys & Girls Club’s afternoon care program.  It was raining heavily, and visibility was poor when the group used a marked crosswalk to cross the intersection of South 312th Street near the Steel Lake Park entrance.

The group was crossing with the light when the driver of a 1994 Toyota Corolla crashed into the victim.

The victim was taken via ambulance to Tacoma General Hospital before being transferred to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.

The lawsuit claims that the at-fault driver acted negligently and ultimate caused the accident.  However, Boys & Girls Club failed to act reasonably by taking a group of children out for a run during poor weather conditions and failed to monitor the crossing of all children in the crosswalk.

As a result of the accident the young victim was injured and suffers physical disability, pain and emotional trauma.  The case is set for trial later this year.
