The crash occurred near the intersection of 48th Avenue West and 222nd Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace just after 11:30 p.m.

Those who witnessed the accident say the driver, Micheal Spieker of Edmonds, was racing with another car.  Spieker allegedly crashed when he tried to pass a car in front of him and instead drove into a forested area.  The car caught on fire.

Residents of nearby homes pulled unconscious 26-year-old Laugle from the burning car.  The medical examiner said that Laugle died of multiple blunt force injuries.
