In conjunction with Alcohol Awareness Month, the Davis Law Group announces the release of “The Essential Guide To Actually Enjoying Being The Designated Driver” to help spread awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and encourage young drivers to make responsible decisions when it comes to alcohol.
According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), there were a total of 9,878 fatalities and an additional 350,000 injuries related to drunk driving accidents in the United States in 2011. To join the countless organizations across the world in spreading awareness about drunk driving and the benefits of having a designated driver, Mischelle Davis – operations manager for the Davis Law Group –recently published her latest book, “The Essential Guide To Actually Enjoying Being The Designated Driver: Including ‘Virgin Blood’ & Other Mocktails.”
The average drunk driver in the U.S. has driven impaired an estimated 80 times before a first arrest for the offense, which means innocent drivers are constantly put at risk of injury from a DUI accident. DUI victims’ advocate and Davis Law Group founder Chris Davis says this has become even more apparent as of late in his home state of Washington.
“Statistically, one-in-three Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related car accident at some point in their lifetime,” says Mr. Davis, who has represented countless DUI accident victims in Washington state throughout his career as a personal injury lawyer. “My office sees the carnage that results from these accidents on almost a weekly basis, and it’s only a matter of time before it affects you on a personal level.”
Even those who have never lost a loved one due to an impaired driving accident are impacted by DUI collisions in America. Taxpayers are left to foot the bill for the financial burden that results from drunk driving crashes and –according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – that cost exceeds $51 billion each year.
Mischelle Davis, who is also a volunteer with the Washington state chapter for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), says she hopes the book will resonate specifically with the younger drinking-eligible audience and demonstrate the benefits of using a designated driver when they drink.
“I think the younger generation has developed a sort of negative connotation with the idea of being a designated driver,” she says. “I wanted to find a way to paint a more positive light on designated driving and encourage young people who are old enough to drink alcohol to make good choices while still having a good time, and I think this book accomplishes that.”
The book [ISBN-10: 1481807854], which comes in a 30-page paperback format, is available for a limited time for just $9.99 through Amazon.
