National Dog Bite Prevention Week May 16-22, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 17, 2010, Seattle, WA – Davis Law Group founder and dog bite attorney Chris Davis joins the American Veterinary Medical Association and The Humane Society of the United States in supporting National Bite Prevention Week which runs from May 16th through the 22nd.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 4.7 million people sustain dog bite injuries each year with 800,000 people needing serious medical attention. It is estimated half of those who are bitten are children.

“In the last few years my office has seen a huge increase in the number of dog bite victims looking for legal help”, said Davis. “Working from the premise that ‘knowledge is power,’ I hope the book and the efforts of organizations that support National Dog Bite Prevention Week will help educate the public on ways to prevent injuries as well as improve the ability to protect victim’s rights.”

National Bite Prevention Week is sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association in conjunction with The Humane Society of the United States.  The joint goal of these organizations is to raise awareness of how to prevent dog bite injuries. This includes proper training for dog owners and parents talking with their children about the dangers our approaching strange animals.

After helping dozens of dog bite victims pursue legal action against the owners of vicious dogs, Davis authored the book When The Dog Bites: The Essential Guide To Dog Bite Claims. The book is designed to help dog bite victims and their families navigate the legal process when they, or a loved one, have been seriously injured by a dog.

In When The Dog Bites, Davis offers basic facts about dog bites; defines the legal and settlement process for animal attack cases; gives tips on communicating with insurance companies when dealing with medical costs; offers insight into how to determine the value of a dog bite claim; and discusses common questions and legal issues that are often present in dog bite cases. Davis also helps dog bite victims understand the pros and cons of hiring an attorney.
