Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School Teacher Awarded School Supplies Gift

Davis Law Group, P.S., a Seattle-based law firm, in partnership with OfficeMax, is pleased to announce that Lori Scallan is this week’s winner of the Davis Law Group School Supplies Gift Program. Ms. Scallan teaches 2nd grade at Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School in Woodinville.

At Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary, Ms. Scallan is known for her organizational skills and her work hard/play hard approach to educating her students. As part of a class writing project, her students are writing letters to soldiers overseas to express gratitude for their work.

Ms. Scallan was nominated for this award by the parent of one of her students, Deb Zimmerman, who describes her as “probably the most organized teacher and classroom” in the entire school.

“Mrs. Scallan absolutely believes in the work hard/play hard approach to education” she says. “Her classes are a lot of fun for the students.”

In addition to purchasing basic school supplies for the classroom, Ms. Scallan will use the $100 gift card to provide additional materials and learning supplies that are not available through the school district – these are things that she usually spends hundreds of dollars of her own on throughout the academic year.

Attorney Chris Davis and his wife started a program to help public school teachers get extra classroom supplies without having to spend their own money. The Davis Law Group School Supplies Gift Program gives a $100 OfficeMax gift card each week to a deserving Washington State Public school teacher and his/her class. Anyone can nominate a teacher for this program, including teachers, students, parents and administrators.
