$6 Million Settlement for Boy Blinded in Accident

NEWS: Boy Blinded In Accident Gets $6 Million Settlement

A hunting preserve business that offers customers ATVs for hunting expeditions gave an adult-sized ATV to a boy under the age of ten.  During an outing the boy became startled and lost control of the vehicle. The ATV flipped over and its handlebar was thrust into the boy’s left eye, blinding him in both eyes.

They boy and his family sued the business claiming that they should not have allowed the boy to operate an ATV unsupervised. The defendants contended they were not liable and argued that boy's parents were responsible for the ATV at the time of the accident. The $6 million dollar settlement was reached through mediation.
