How Bad Is The Poly-Drug Driving Problem In Washington State?

According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commision, the frequency of poly-drug drivers in fatal crashes has increased at a steady rate over the past several years. The number of drivers testing positive for multiple substances reached the highest point in history in 2013, and that number has increased every year since, reaching unprecedented levels. Most polydrug drivers combine alcohol with another drug. From 2008-2016, 44 percent of fatal crash-involved drivers testing positive for substances were poly-drug drivers.
