Wrong Way Crash on I-5 in Lynwood Kills Driver

Updated on: 2/17/2020

A driver died Sunday morning after causing a collision while driving north in the southbound of I-5.

The Hyundai Accent struck a barrier near 44th Avenue West and was sitting in the roadway where a driver was unable to avoid colliding with the passenger side of the vehicle.

The wrong way driver was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, and there is no info on what may have led to the driver to be going the wrong way at this time.

Wrong Way Casualties.

Wrong way drivers continue to be an issue on Seattle area highways, with multiple fatal wrong way driver accidents in the last month on I-5 alone.

Drivers like the one that hit the wrong way driver in this story often have little to no time to react to the oncoming car, and even if they do have a chance to try to avoid the oncoming vehicle, it is impossible to  predict what the other driver will do.

Thankfully, reports indicate that the driver who collided with the wrong way driver in this case does not appear to be seriously injured at this time, but unfortunately that is not always the case.

Just last month on the 13th a wrong way driver in Tukwila struck an oncoming vehicle on International Boulevard, killing the driver of that vehicle.

 Insurance Offers Without Serious Injures

While the driver who collided with the wrong way driver does was not reported to appear seriously hurt at the time of the collision, proper medical examinations are still crucial and should occur before releasing an insurance company.

Some injuries like Traumatic Brain Injuries, or TBI’s for short, do not necessarily present immediately, and soft tissue problems with joints muscles and ligaments may take time and closer examination to pinpoint.

Insurance companies may seem happy to hear you’re not seriously injured after an accident and could even present a quick and easy settlement as them trying to do you a favor, but, they’re still looking after their own bottom line.

When you sign a settlement agreement and discover a previously unknown injury or complication after your accident days, weeks, or months down the line, it’s too late.

That’s just one reason the attorneys at Davis Law Group make sure the victims we work with a regularly in communication with medical professionals and don’t ever accept recovery until a full picture of the extent of their injures and required treatments are understood.
