Woman Killed in Crash on State Route 7 near Eatonville

eatonville crashA female passenger was killed Sunday when the SUV she was riding in slammed into a tree, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred on state Route 7 about two miles south of Eatonville around 5:30 p.m. 

A 29-year-old Gig Harbor man was traveling north when his Nissan Xterra left the highway at 453rd Street East and hit a tree. His passenger, a 29-year-old Kent woman, was killed. 

The driver was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.

State Route 7 was blocked for more than three hours during the investigation.

State Patrol said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved in the crash. They have still not determined what caused the man to lose control of the SUV.
