A Sequim woman was seriously injured when the car she was a passenger in overturned and struck a utility pole along U.S. Highway 101 at Kitchen-Dick Road early Friday morning.
The woman, 28-year-old Tearra L. Tistick was taken to the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was listed in serious condition.
The driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Daniel J. Carter, was heading eastbound in his BMW when he lost control and swerved off the roadway. Carter sustained head and shoulder injuries in the car accident and was taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles. He was treated at the hospital and later discharged.
According to State Patrol, Carter was attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control of his car, veering off the right side of the roadway. Troopers stated that both Carter and Ristick were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident. Drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash.
According to State Patrol, the car was completely destroyed. The wreck currently remains under investigation.
