The Washington State Patrol responded to a serious three-car accident on Friday afternoon near Lynwood, Washington. The crash happened at approximated 3:00 pm on northbound I-5 in Snohomish County.
According to investigators, all three cars involved in the crash were travelling in the northbound lanes when a gray 2006 Chrysler 3000 and a red 2000 Nissan Quest minivan slowed down due to traffic ahead of them. A white 2001 Ford F250 pickup truck collided with the minivan as it slowed down, pushing it forward and causing it to slam into the Chrysler 3000.
Four children and one adult were passengers in the minivan. A 7-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy, and a 39-year old woman in the minivan were injured; the two boys were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. A 2-year-old girl who was a passenger in the minivan sustained critical injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. She passed away in the hospital. The driver of the minivan, a 43-year-old man, was also injured in the crash.
