A motorcycle accident in Tacoma after Wednesday night’s Aerosmith concert left two people injured, one of them critically.
According to police, two women were attending the concert from British Columbia and went to a bar after the show. The women met two other male motorcyclists at the bar and the group decided they wanted to find another bar with karaoke, so they paired up and began driving down the road. Once the lead bike realized the other couple was no longer behind them, they turned around and came upon the accident scene.
There was reportedly a long field of debris from the motorcycle, which indicated to investigators that the motorcycle was traveling very fast. The driver of the bike, a 32-year-old man from Spanaway, was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and was listed in critical condition, while his passenger, a 31-year-old woman from British Columbia, had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police reports indicate that the injured woman was wearing a full-face helmet that offered her more protection from injury in the motorcycle crash, and the driver was wearing a smaller helmet. Alcohol and speed were listed as factors in the crash. Police said the driver could face charges of vehicular assault when he is released from the hospital.
