A driver and his passenger are dead after a one-car collision among heavy fog in Everett.
The crash took place around 3 a.m. Saturday morning when the driver of a BMW R8 lost control on 20th St E just east of Everett in Lake Stevens.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, and his 20-year-old passenger were found dead after apparently losing control and crashing on the south side of the roadway.
At this time no further details have been released on the victims and investigators state they believe that both fog and speed were a factor in this collision.
Understanding the Recovery Process for One Car Accident Victims
Single vehicle accident victims are often left with fewer options for recovery compared to victims of multi-vehicle collisions.
When an accident only involves one vehicle, there is often no third party like an additional, at-fault driver to pursue a claim from.
In single-vehicle accidents with passengers however the passengers may pursue claims against the driver of their vehicle if they can be shown to have acted negligently.
Drivers in single-vehicle collisions can also potentially pursue claims for full, or partial liability if some third party factor played a role in the collisions like hazardous roadway design or defects.
In this case however, initial reports indicate that speed and fog may have been factors in the crash, meaning that even if the driver was not speeding, he may have been driving too fast for conditions, and ultimately, at fault.
These initial reports are not final however and if loved ones for the victims involved pursue their own investigation into the events surrounding the accident just as Davis Law Group recommends all accident victims do they may find additional factors and details not initially revealed by police reports.
