Semi-Truck Overturned After Being Struck By A Street Racing Vehicle On I-5

Call For Witnesses In I-5 Semi Truck Accident

A semi-truck driver who was injured in an accident that is believed to have been caused by street racing vehicles has retained Davis Law Group to represent him in possible legal action related to the accident. 

The accident took place on 4/15/2016 near Woodland, CA.  The semi-truck was entering northbound Interstate 5 approximately 2 miles north of county road 103 in Yolo County California.  At approximately 5:50am a white 2009 Ford Focus struck the 2015 Cascadia Freightliner at approximately 105 mph.  The semi truck then skidded and flipped over on it side in the center divider of I-5. 

It is believed that the Ford Focus may have been participating in a drag race.  The driver fled the scene after the collision but was later arrested.   
Both the truck driver and his passenger were badly inured.  The driver was pinned under the dash and a vehicle tire chan became wrapped around his head.   The driver suffered a concussion; lacerations to the face from broken glass; 3 broken ribs; shoulder injuries; a broken sternum; severe burns to the hands; broken toe; 7 broken teeth; and other injuries. 

The Woodland Fire & Rescue Department had to cut the driver out of the semi truck wreckage.  The driver was then transported to the UC Davis Hospital.  
The actions and conduct of at-fault driver has been under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
