A North Bend woman is dead after a head on collision with a semi-ruck on SR 18 just east of Issaquah.
According to Washington State Patrol, the collision took place just west of I-90 around 11:20 Saturday morning when the driver of a Ford Escape apparently crossed over the center line and struck the semi truck traveling eastbound.
KOMO news reported from the scene with video of large pieces of debris from the semi truck along the side of the road where the collision took place.
The road was closed for several hours after the incident while investigators worked at the scene, no additional information about potential causes of the collision have been released at this time.
State Routes And Semi's A Deadly Combination
Busy two lane state routes unfortunately have a reputation of being home to particularly deadly collisions like this crash involving a semi truck on SR 202 that came just a month after another deadly crash on the same patch of road.
The nature of these roads, winding through our countrysides with drivers traveling as fast as 60 miles per hour with many of them being just two lanes wide, leaves little room for error for drivers and can lead to an increase in serious accidents.
Road design is an important factor in accident cases like this as historical data can be used to build a case that a road may be unsafe.
Victims of accidents involving semi trucks need a legal team on their side who can help gather the facts of their case and advocate for a fair recovery.
Davis Law Group has represented victims of semi truck accidents for more than 20-years and has an experienced legal staff that guides accident victims through the recovery and settlement process.
