A man was injured in a collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 5 near Sunset on Thursday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. on southbound I-5 near Sunset Drive crossing.
Police say there was a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 5 and a semi truck drove by in the right-hand lane and struck a 40-year-old man. The man suffered a cut to his head, but was conscious and alert when he was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.
The man was someone from the disabled car, police say, but it is not clear whether he was the driver or a passenger. WSP says it’s currently unclear whether the truck drifted to the right or the man stepped onto the highway.
Further details are not available. The investigation is ongoing.
