Seattle Woman Makes Case for Mother of the Year Award

Updated on: 3/6/2019

A Seattle woman who is alleged to have viciously beaten her boyfriend into unconsciousness, bit a firefighter and threatened to kill a police officer has formally been charged with assault, according to King County court records. We’re wondering if maybe the woman is deserving of some child-endangerment charges as well, as police say this all happened while the couple’s two-week-old child was strapped into a baby carrier attached to the woman’s chest.

Woman Assaults Boyfriend with Infant Strapped to Chest

Prosecutors say the 25-year-old woman, who is identified by King County prosecutors as Sharee Seminole, and her boyfriend were near the intersection of 25th Avenue South and Jackson Street at around 5:40 p.m. when the couple began arguing. Witnesses say that the 270-pound woman eventually threw her boyfriend to the ground and began kicking him in the chest.

According to Senior Deputy Prosecutor Stephanie Guthrie, Seminole “continued to scream at the victim and then began stomping on his face.” Guthrie says the defendant struck the man’s face at least eight times with her foot, causing him to lose consciousness, before a passerby intervened and confronted Seminole. That witness says the defendant replied with, “You know how many times he’s kicked me?”

Woman Put Child At Risk of Injury Multiple Times

The victim sustained significant injuries to his face as a result of the attack, including facial lacerations and a broken nose. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for his injuries, and there was no available information on his condition. Seminole reportedly fled the scene of the incident and walked to a nearby convenience store – with the infant child still strapped to her chest –where she purchased a bag of Funyuns.

Officers confronted the woman outside of the convenience store, and detectives say she was belligerent, had slurred speech and refused to cooperate with officers. While being escorted to a patrol car, the woman allegedly began resisting and grabbed the baby carrier during the struggle. “Fearing for the safety of the baby, officers tried to free the baby but Seminole put up a huge fight,” according to court documents.

During the struggle, Seminole is alleged to have bit one firefighter and attempted to kick another. After being taken into custody and placed in a holding cell, detectives say she mouthed the words “I’m gonna kill you” to a police officer.

Seminole has been charged with second degree assault and according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, she is still in jail. The couple’s baby was taken into protective custody as a result of the incident, and there was no additional information on the status of the child.
