A 23-year-old woman from Seattle was arrested and taken into police custody Thursday evening after being involved in a single-vehicle car accident on an Interstate 5 off-ramp in Seattle.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the ordeal began at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday when a sheriff’s deputy witnessed the woman selling drugs in the 14800 block of Highway 99 in Lynnwood. The deputy began to approach the woman about her suspicious activity, but she fled in her vehicle.
The officer followed the woman in his own patrol car and she began heading northbound on I-5. The woman attempted to exit the freeway at 128th Street but crashed into another vehicle, causing serious damage to both vehicles involved.
Deputies were able to arrest the woman and later found out that she had several warrants out for her arrest, including a felony no-bail warrant. She was taken to the Snohomish County Jail without further incident, and no information regarding her injuries or criminal charges was available.
Legal Analysis: In this particular instance, the driver of the vehicle that was struck by this negligent woman could have potentially been injured in the crash. If that were the case, he or she would potentially be able to pursue a personal injury claim against the driver and her insurance company.
