Pedestrian Struck by Train, Killed in Auburn

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by an Amtrak train in an attempt to cross through the Auburn rail yard Tuesday night. According to witnesses, a person was walking through the rail yard and climbed through an idle freight train before being struck by an approaching train car.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway spokesman Gus Melonas says passenger and freight train traffic through the area was temporarily delayed after the accident. Investigators were unable to immediately determine the pedestrian’s identity or gender.
