Pedestrian Pinned Against Retaining Wall After Queen Anne Crash

Updated on: 3/9/2020

A 65-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday after being struck by a vehicle and pinned against a retaining wall in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.

According to KOMONews.com, first responders arrived at the scene near the 1600 block of 3rd Avenue West north of the city center at approximately 7:45 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of a serious pedestrian accident. Rescue crews found the man trapped between the vehicle which struck him and a retaining wall, and had to safely stabilize the vehicle so that they could free him without causing additional harm.

The man was rushed to nearby Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of critical injuries, according to statements relayed by Seattle Fire Department officials. It was unclear whether the patient remained in critical condition or if his condition had improved.

Liability For A Serious Pedestrian Accident

When a pedestrian is critically injured in an accident caused by another driver, Washington state law permits the injured person to pursue a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver. However, there are a series of important steps that must be taken to ensure that the injured victim’s legal rights are protected.

Because of this, all pedestrian accident cases are individually unique and should be thoroughly investigated to identify the variety of potential contributing factors that might affect the victim’s ability to pursue of a personal injury claim, or in situations where criminal charges may be involved. Consulting with a personal injury attorney with a successful track record of recovering fair settlements for injured pedestrians is often a good first step in understanding your legal rights and options.

Davis Law Group principal attorney Christopher M. Davis has authored a helpful and informational legal guidebook called “Right Of Way: The Essential Guide to Pedestrian Accident Law in Washington State” which explains the key pieces of information accident victims should be aware of and the common mistakes victims often make. Understanding and avoiding these mistakes can make all the difference in the chances of a successful outcome to any personal injury case.
