New: Car Drives Into Tacoma Subway, Injures Security Guard

Updated on: 11/25/2019

A driver crashed their car into a Tacoma area Subway restaurant Wednesday night, injuring a security guard inside.

Police are looking for the driver of the vehicle after they were not found at the scene just after 8 p.m. Wednesday night when authorities responded to reports of the crash.

At this time it is unknown if the injured guard was struck by the car or merely by debris resulting from the impact of the car into the buildings facade.

The injured security guard was taken to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment, and the car was removed by authorities.

Vehicle Into Building Collisions

If this story sounds somewhat familiar, you are likely thinking of when a dump truck crashed into a Pioneer Square Subway restaurant.

Thankfully, this incident does not appear to have caused as much damage as that major crash that made national news, it did however still result in an injury to an innocent bystander inside the building.

Davis Law Group has handled cases involving people seriously injured by vehicle-into-building collisions in the past, and the damage that a several thousand pound piece of metal going fast enough to go through a building can have on human beings is severe.

While the driver in this case is still on the run the injured party should be focused on recovery while police conduct an investigation into the crash and attempt to apprehend the driver.

If the Subway, or even just the shopping center the Subway was a part of had a security officer, it’s highly likely that they have cameras, which could prove crucial to apprehending the suspect driver.

Once the driver is apprehended, the injured party can begin to focus on making a recovery against that driver and any insurance they had at the time of the crash. If the security guard was on duty at the time of the collision, he or she would have grounds for an L&I claim as well as the claim against the third party insurance from the driver.

Hopefully, the guards injuries were not severe and the local authorities bring the at fault party to justice in short time so that they can be held accountable and help repair the damage they’ve caused.
