A man changing a tire on the side of I-405 in Kirkland and a bicyclist in Federal way were both killed this week from hit and run accidents.
In Kirkland, while changing a blown-out tire the victim was struck by a semi-truck that continued, potentially not even knowing it struck an individual.
The victim’s vehicle had a dash camera that recorded the incident and showed the truck with a rounded trailer, which was the only evidence left at the scene as the semi did not strike the victim's vehicle.
Friday morning in Federal way a man was found dead in the street, and a bike broken on the side of the road.
According to KIRO Reporting a witness claims to have heard the thud and glass shattering from the impact but by the time they arrived at the scene no car was found. Investigators have said they are looking for a gray Ford truck.
Hit and Run Accident Victims
Hit and Run accidents present a unique set of complicated legal problems for victims, as it is obviously is hard to collect a recovery without an identified at-fault driver.
Without an identified at fault driver, your own insurance becomes the main option for recovery.
Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorist coverage is an incredibly important option to have as a driver as this policy comes into effect in cases like this whereas a victim, the individual responsible for the accident that harmed you either has insufficient insurance, no insurance, or is not found at all.
While many auto insurance policies may call themselves "full coverage" it's important to check exactly what coverage your policy includes.
Your insurance may resist paying out these claims, which is why having a team of experienced Washington car accident attorneys on your side is important. The Davis Law Group has been representing victims of hit and run crashes years and offers free consultations to accident victims.
