Officer shot 14 times and her 23-year-old son outside of their home. She is alleging excessive use of force in the lawsuit.
"It's not just come and kill because you made a judgment in that time. They destroy families," she said.
On the day of the shooting, the mom and son were in an argument so she called 911 because her son had a knife in his hand. However, she believes he would never threaten anyone. The city alleges that he refused to put the knife down and follow commands.
The wrongful death lawsuit blames the city for negligent training, hiring and supervision of officers. She is suing for $5 million in compensatory damages and for $2 million from each officer for punitive damages. The plaintiff alleges that there is a videotape with evidence from the day of the incident.
