Mother and Three Children Struck by Suspected DUI Driver in Bremerton Thursday Morning

Updated on: 11/25/2019

A 27-year-old woman was arrested after running a red light and hitting a mother and her three children crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

The collision happened just after 8:30 Thursday morning while the mother was walking with her 3,4, and 6-year-old at the intersection of 11th street and Naval Avenue in Bremerton.

The mother and all three children were reportedly thrown into the middle of the intersection by the impact and were transported to Harrison Hospital where they are all expected to make a full recovery.

The facts involved with this accident at this time paint a strong picture of liability and while proving that hopefully should not be much of a battle for the wounded family in this case, working with insurance may still be.

Accidents such as this one involving significant impacts, launching pedestrians as much as 30 feet according to some reports, unfortunately often result in traumatic brain injuries.

While scrapes, bruises, broken bones and even muscular injuries all present fairly apparent symptoms, brain injuries have become known as a “silent epidemic” due to the fact that in many cases, children show no observable impairments following a head injury.

This means that after an accident as bones are healing, and insurance tries to settle your claim as quickly as possible, there could be life altering, unknown injuries that have gone undiagnosed and untreated.

It’s unfortunately common for insurance companies to be focused on whether or not an individual lost consciousness at any point after the accident, even though TBI’s don’t always result in the loss of consciousness.

If you or a loved one was injured in an auto accident, and believe there is a chance someone suffered a TBI, make sure to get checked by a licensed neurologist who specializes in TBI’s to get an accurate diagnosis.

You only have one opportunity to settle an insurance claim and make a full recovery, doing so without a complete understanding of all injuries suffered in the crash can result it a recovery that leaves you dealing with long term injuries and medical bills yourself.

The experienced brain injury attorneys at Davis Law Group offer free consultations to accident victims and work with TBI experts to ensure our clients have a clear understanding of their injuries before ever considering accepting a recovery.
