3 Teens Injured In Crash With Power Pole in Maple Valley

Updated on: 10/13/2020

A Maple Valley collision involving a power pole resulted in injuries to three teenage girls Tuesday Morning.

The collision took place just before noon on SE Kent-Kangley Road in Maple Valley.

The three teenage occupants of the vehicle were all injured with the front passenger being ejected, and suffering multiple broken bones, a rear passenger seriously injured and the driver suffering minor injures.

The rear passenger was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Investigators have not released a cause or any additional information leading up to the collisions.

Legal Rights and Options For Child Accident Injury Victims

Teens under the age of 18 are considered children in the eyes of the law which has several important implications for any personal injury claims.

The statute of limitations for personal injury claims in Washington State is 3-years, however, for minor victims, they have 3 years from the date of the accident as well as 3-years from their 18th birthday.

For the victims in this accident who may be near 18, they may only have one or two years before they turn 18 and their adult statute of limitations would begin, but this added time even of a couple of months could prove invaluable in the long process of a child personal injury claim.

The passengers in this accident may have a potential claim against the driver of their vehicle depending on the results of the ongoing investigation into the collision.

If it is determined that the driver was negligent in their actions leading up to the collision with the power poll, accident victims even as passengers of the at-fault driver have the right to make a recovery for injuries that were suffered as a result of the driver's violation of their standard of due care
