Man Run Over by Forklift at Northwest Hardwoods in Arlington

A man was run over by a forklift in Arlington this morning and taken to Arlington Airport, where he was airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. The 60-year-old man was treated for broken bones and possible internal injuries.

The accident happened at Northwest Hardwoods around 10 a.m. 

Forklift Accident Statistics 

According to the Industrial Truck Association, there are about 855,900 forklifts in the U.S., so over 11 percent will be involved in some type of accident each year (assuming only one accident per forklift).

The number one cause of deaths is tipovers, being 42 percent. The other causes are crushed between a vehicle and a surface, 25 percent. Following being crushed between two vehicles, struck or run over by a forklift, struck by falling material and fall from platform on the forks.
