Logging Truck Accident Victim Retains Seattle Law Firm
Pedestrian accident victim Kelly Burke has retained Davis Law Group, an award-winning, Seattle-based civil litigation firm, to represent him in possible legal action related to a collision with a logging truck that took place on July 25, 2016 at approximately 11:15am near Port Angeles, WA.
Fifty-nine year old Burke was walking his dog on West Marine Drive in Port Angeles near the Platypus Marine Shipyard. Burke was crossing an intersection when he was struck by a Kenworth logging truck driven by William Bliss Jr.
According to law enforcement officials at the Port Angeles Police Department, Bliss was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian. Apparently the truck driver merely slowed down rather than stopping at a stop sign—making a rolling stop. He then attempted to make a left-hand turn. Bliss’ failure to come to a complete stop to check for traffic and/or pedestrians before making a turn resulted in the collision with Burke.
Captain Jeff Thaxton of the Port Angeles Police Department told the Peninsula Daily News, “The truck lurched forward and the next thing you know the pedestrian was on the hood of truck.”
Burke was knocked unconscious before hitting the ground. He was transported via ambulance to the emergency room at Olympic Medical Center.
Emergency medical personnel determined that Burke suffered a skull fracture and broken bones in his leg. Burke was immediately airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he underwent immediate surgery. Burke then spent several days in the trauma center’s ICU and more than a week receiving care. He will now require months of additional treatment and physical therapy before the long-term impact of the accident is fully known.
Kelly Burke was the victim of this horrible accident. The actions and conduct of William Bliss Jr. and the trucking company he works for are under investigation by local authorities.
