A head on collision left three injured just before noon Sunday and people are concerned due to this being the second serious crash this week, adding to a laundry list of others according to locals.
The two car, head on collision this past Sunday sent all three passengers involved to the hospital with serious injuries.
Just a few days prior, on the 16th an elderly man died in another head on collision that sent another driver to Harborview in critical condition.
At this time the cause of the crash has not been named but locals believe road conditions, and unsafe driving habits are to blame for the continuous wreckage.
What Makes a Dangerous Road?
Locals claim that this patch of the road is notorious for accidents like this, a claim that is familiar to residents of SR 202, Redmond-Fall City Rd, who had their own back to back serious accidents earlier this year.
In our reporting on these incidents we used Washington State Patrol’s (WSP) collision analysis tool to get data on the quantity and severity of accidents that occurred on that stretch of road over the previous years.
WSP data show’s that in the last five years there have been as many as 190 minor injury accidents in the last five years, seven serious injury accidents and five fatal accidents.
Using the same tool, we can see that Preston Fall City Rd has had more than 60 accidents reported over the last 5 years, including the crash on the 16th as the only fatal accident within the time period.
The data also shows three serious injury collisions and 15 reported minor injury collisions with five reports showing unknown injury data.
An important detail to contextualize these figures is the length of road and where the collisions are happening. While SR 202 is around 30 miles in length, Preston Fall City Rd is less than 5.
If the locals are correct though, accident victims could build a case claiming the road was dangerous and at least in part at fault for the accident and could make a claim against those responsible for the design and management of the road.
Davis Law Group has experience taking claims against the Washington State Department of Transportation for dangerous road design and knows how to build a case and conduct a thorough investigation to insure our clients get the recovery they deserve.
