Inattention, Negligent Driving Leads to Car Accident near Pasco

Updated on: 11/12/2019

A single-car collision in Central Washington Tuesday morning resulted in two people being hospitalized for the injuries they sustained, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

Reports from the WSP say 31-year-old Kristina Shelton of Milton Freewater, Oregon was driving her 1992 Isuzu pickup truck on SR-395 north of Pasco when she lost control of the truck. The vehicle exited the roadway to the left, causing Shelton to overcorrect to the right side and cross the roadway. The vehicle then rolled, ejecting the 32-year-old passenger and finally resting on its side.

WSP reports indicate that the driver’s inattention and negligent driving were the main contributing factors in this car accident. The passenger, identified as 32-year-old Donald Cowden of Milton Freewater, was ejected from the vehicle and was significantly injured in the accident. Shelton was also injured, and the two were transported to nearby hospitals.
