Type: Hunting Accident; Wrongful Death
Outcome: One Dead
A Port Angeles man died in a fatal hunting accident. Apparently the man was a part of a five-member hunting party. He was seated on the driver’s side of his truck, which was parked while waiting for the other hunters. One of the men unloaded his .270-caliber rifle nearby sending a bullet fragment through the truck’s back window, striking the victim from behind. He died at the scene.
Every year, people are injured in hunting-related incidents in Washington. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) tracks these incidents in the interest of preventing them in the future. Hunting incidents are caused -- they don't just happen.
Everyone be safe out there in the woods and enjoy your time outdoors. Hopefully, you are never on the end of an unfortunate story like this one and your hunting endeavors are injury free.
