Hit and Run Driver Strikes Eatonville Highschool Tennis Team Van

Updated on: 11/25/2019

A van carrying the Eatonville Highschool Tennis team was struck by a driver who attempted to flee the scene Wednesday night.

The 52-year-old Elma man was driving a Ford Sedan in the Eastbound lanes of SR 512 in Tacoma when he struck the van, and eventually attempted to flee the scene on foot.

State troopers arrived to the scene and were able to capture the fleeing suspect and evaluate 7 passengers from the van for serious injuries.

While no passengers were taken to the hospital, some complained of neck and back pain at the scene.

How Injured do I Need to be to Call an Attorney?

Thankfully no serious injuries were reported from this crash but reports of neck and back pain bring up this incredibly common question for accident victims.

The severity of ones injuries often plays a major role into the decision to hire an attorney, while a totaled car can cost thousands, medical bills, and permanent physical harm can cost individuals anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions.

Things like broken bones, prolonged care, surgeries, extended time away from work and permanent disability ratings are all things that can skyrocket the costs to victims.

But not every accident or injury comes with such clear markers, like the passengers in the van, many accident victims walk away from a crash simply feeling aching or sore.

How to Know When it’s Time to Call?

Even if you did not initially feel a significant injury, that doesn’t necessarily mean you escaped unscathed. Soft tissue and ligament injuries can take months to develop and be clearly diagnosed and care and treatment for these injuries can be expensive requiring specialists and prolonged care.

Thankfully, in Washington State, The Statute of Limitations for personal injuries is 3-years, meaning from the date of your accident, you have three years to decide to pursue a claim.

While it is recommended not to wait until the last minute to allow your legal team ample time to work on your case, the team at Davis Law Group has taken on cases of clients into their second year and achieved great results even when the insurance companies just wanted to keep putting our client off.
