Why Victims That Hire a Lawyer Get More Money
Not all accident cases require the services of a personal injury attorney. If the injuries are minor, there are no significant medical expenses, and the liability for the incident is straightforward, it’s likely you can handle the case on your own.
But when the damages/injuries are severe, liability is contested and the medical bills are mounting, it’s probably a good idea to at least consult with an attorney. In these cases, you are much more likely to lose money than to save money by handling the claim yourself.
The personal injury attorneys at Davis Law Group work on a contingency fee basis. That means we don’t get paid unless you win a settlement. There’s no up-front costs, and it gives us an incentive to get the most compensation possible for your case.
By hiring an attorney, you get someone on your side fighting for you. That includes:
- Countering the tactics used by the insurance company. Insurance adjusters working on your claim, even from your own insurance company, have one goal in mind: making money. The more they pay you for your injuries, the less money goes in their pockets.
- Backing up negotiations with the threat of a lawsuit. Less than 2 percent of personal injury cases go to trial, but having an attorney with extensive trial experience is a key factor during negotiations.
- Maximizing recovery for pain and suffering. The right attorney will see your case from all angles and determine the appropriate — fair and reasonable — amount of compensation to ask for. That includes figuring out the dollar amount to pay for pain and suffering.
