According to Action News, the children's aunt says that two of the children are recovering at Harborview Medical Center. Three of the children are recovering at Children's Hospital.
The aunt says that the driver and the five kids are alive, but that they have a long road to recovery ahead of them.
Two people were killed and six others suffered injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 12 in Lewis County on Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 12, about 10 miles east of Packwood on White Pass.
A 39-year-old woman from London, England, was heading east in a Ford Escape SUV when she crossed the centerline. The Escape collided head-on with a Chevrolet Traverse, driven by a 36-year-old Selah woman.
The driver of the Escape — identified as Jonna Rane — was killed. A 10-year-old boy from Kirkland in the Escape was also killed.
The driver of the Traverse suffered injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle via Life Flight. She had five children in the vehicle — ages 4, 6, 9, 10 and 13. All the kids were hurt and taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.
Further details are not available. The incident remains under investigation.
