Today a woman called to ask us to help her with her car accident claim. We get dozens of such calls every day. What made this call unique was the fact that she once served as a juror on an auto accident case that my husband, accident attorney Chris Davis, took to trial several years ago.
The former juror said, “I thought he did such a great job on the case that he presented to our jury. He explained everything so well.”
She went on to say, “I found out after the trial that he had tried hard to settle the case before trial but the insurance company would not make a fair offer to the victim—so he HAD to take it to trial to make sure she got enough money to cover her medical bills and lost wages. I knew then that if I ever needed a lawyer that I would call Chris Davis.”
And so she did.
And this is not the first time that a former juror has reached out to our office after suffering a car accident of their own.
I watched my husband at trial for the first time in 2004--three years after we were married. I was so proud of him. He did a great job. And three years later in 2007 when I started helping him mange the firm we got a call from one of the people who had been a juror on that same trial that I watched in 2004. That juror’s comments were very similar to the remarks we heard today.
There may be no higher compliment than to get a call from a former juror.
