In 2010, 458 people lost their lives in motor vehicle accidents on Washington state interstates, highways, roadways and streets. This number is down 34% when compared to the 492 people who died in accidents in 2009.
Drunk Driving Deaths in Washington State, 2009 and 2010
In 2010 170 people in Washington state died in alcohol-related accidents. This figure is 18 percent lower than the 207 people who died in impaired crashes in 2009 (34 fewer fatalities in 2010). These are fatalities in crashes involving a driver with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or greater.
