Car Accidents Can Cause Serious Cosmetic Injuries to the Face
The most common cause of facial fractures and serious cosmetic injuries to the face is motor vehicle accidents. In a car accident, injuries to the face are often caused by the steering wheel, dashboard, airbag, windshield, side window, car seats or shattered glass. These facial injuries can range from minor scrapes and bruises; to a broken nose or broken jaw; to serious laceration and fractures; partial or total vision loss, severe burns and nerve damage; and broken teeth or other serious dental injuries.
Fortunately, the probability of fractures and other forms of facial injury from motor vehicle collisions is decreasing due to general improvements in motor vehicle safety features, restraints, and the general body composition of automobiles. However, serious accidents do still frequently cause the kind of facial injuries that can be life-changing.
Women with Permanent Facial Scarring After an Accident
Although severe facial injuries and scarring can negatively impact anyone’s life, women often have the hardest time overcoming injuries that impact their appearance. In a culture where youth and physical beauty is such an important component of a woman’s self-esteem permanent changes in her appearance can have a devastating psychological impact.
I personally have several scars on my face (nose and just below my mouth) due to injuries. I know how difficult it can be to confidently face the world with bandages on your face and how self-conscious one can feel when to speaking to people while in the back of your head you are thinking to yourself, "are they looking at my scar?" And I know the torment of meeting with doctor after doctor looking for someone who can help you reduce the appearance of or eliminate facial scars.
I feel a personal connection to all of our clients who have facial injuries whether those injuries are from a car collision, dog bite, or other type of accident. I make sure I meet with all of our facial injury clients and let them know that I am available to them anytime they need to speak with someone who understand their pain.
Facial Injury Attorney in Seattle
My husband, attorney Chris Davis, is well-known for his aggressive advocacy on behalf of injury victims in Washington State. What is not as widely known is the fact that there are few personal injury attorneys in Washington state who have more direct experience working with people who have severe facial injuries. Having handled thousands of car accident and dog bite cases Chris has seen far more maxillofacial disfigurement cases than most lawyers. I would venture to say that in Washington State only a surgeon would ever meet with more facial injury victims than Chris.
