Two men were killed and three more were hospitalized as a result of a single-vehicle rollover crash in Mabton Sunday evening.
According to Washington State Patrol, 20-year-old Israel Evangelista Mena was headed south on Glade Road in a 2005 Jeep at approximately 4:15 p.m. before the vehicle veered off the road to the left. Mena overcorrected the turn and the vehicle rolled, resulting in the deaths of 24-year-old Maximo Ocampo and 23-year-old Luis Marcia Santana.
Mena was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for the injuries he suffered in the car accident. The two other passengers in the Jeep, 24-year-old Basilio Flores Soriano and 26-year-old Adrian Mena Santana were taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. The accident is still under investigation, but state troopers say that alcohol was involved in the crash.
