Drunk Driving Crash in Mabton Leaves Two Dead
Two men were killed and three more were hospitalized as a result of a single-vehicle rollover crash in Mabton Sunday evening. According to Washington State Patrol, 20-year-old Israel Evangelista Mena was headed south on Glade Road in a 2005 Jeep at approximately 4:15 p.m. before the vehicle veered off the road to the left. Mena overcorrected the turn and the vehicle rolled, resulting in the deaths of 24-year-old Maximo Ocampo and 23-year-old Luis Marcia Santana.
Mena was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for his injuries. The two other passengers in the Jeep, 24-year-old Basilio Flores Soriano and 26-year-old Adrian Mena Santana were taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. The accident is still under investigation, but state troopers say that alcohol was involved in the crash.
