Updated on: 11/25/2019

A suspected drunk driver ran through a red light before smashing into a King County Metro bus Thursday night in Burien, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The bus was coming down the off-ramp from State Route 509 and proceeded with a green light into the intersection. A speeding driver in a Dodge pickup truck ran the red light on South 128th Street, slamming into the bus and going off the road.

Police say as many as 10 people were aboard the bus. Many were hurt and at least one had to be rushed to the hospital.

The driver of the pickup was badly hurt and went to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
