The crash that killed a young mother in Tukwila last month was live streamed according to police who are still searching for the 17-year-old driver responsible.
We originally covered the crash in a piece published on the 13th of August. At the time little info was known about those injured or why the car jumped the median.
Now, police state that the driver of the car that crossed the median was a 17-year-old, engaged in a race with two other cars and his passenger was live streaming.
The 17-year-old driver is now being charged with vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault and has not been apprehended at this time.
Street Racing Accidents and Social Media as Evidence
The development of a live stream recording of the crash is useful for investigators both criminal and civil, with facts from the recording already being reported in court documents.
Video evidence can help determine truth in cases where at fault drivers may claim events happened one way while police reports might indicate another series of events. Video showing the 17-year-old racing when the median was crossed could be conclusive in a criminal case and help prevent a lengthy trial in a civil case.
Insurance companies when faced with clients who have either admitted to being at fault, or are otherwise indisputably at fault would be left to negotiate a recovery with only the claimed damages to dispute.
A driver injured or killed by a clearly at fault party could reasonably claim damages from any and all medical expenses, damages to their vehicle, lost wages, permanent disability or pain and suffering.
Insurance companies of clearly at fault drivers would have to dispute the amounts claimed by a victim after an accident which is why working with professional car accident attorneys like the team at Davis Law Group is important.
Our team of attorney’s guide clients through the medical process and ensure every step and every bill along the way is taken care of and accounted for when we make a demand to insurance. This makes it even harder for insurance to deny the validity of a claim in settlement negotiations and can help prevent lengthy and costly trials.
