A single-vehicle car accident near Tacoma Friday evening led to two of the vehicle’s occupants being killed while another was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
According to KIRO News, police responded to calls about a serious injury collision near the 3600 block of S 74th Street in Tacoma just after 7 p.m. Friday. Upon arriving, they pronounced the male driver and one female passenger deceased at the scene. One male passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries.
It was unclear how exactly the accident occurred and what contributing factors may have played a role, and officials shut down S 74th Street in order to conduct a full investigation into the incident. However, police indicated to news reporters that they believed speed may have contributed to the collision.
Legal Considerations For Injured Passengers
Washington state law permits those injured in auto accidents to pursue a bodily injury claim against the person who caused their injuries, as well as the insurance company that provides coverage to the at-fault driver. These rights are also extended to passengers who are injured in a collision caused by the driver they were riding with at the time.
These types of personal injury claims can be complex and sometimes raise contentious feelings for injured victims because it often means the claimant is taking legal action against a friend or family member.
