Deadliest Time to be on the Roads vs. Deadliest Time in a Hospital

Updated on: 11/7/2019

medical malpractice lawyer in washington stateAugust is the deadliest time to be on the roadways compared to any other time during the year. Ironically, the first week of August is the deadliest time to be in a hospital.

This is an unsettling correlation.

August is reported to be a dangerous time on the roadways because it is a very busy time for traveling, from families vacationing, college students heading back to school, visits to amusement parks and zoo, and so forth.

Unfortunately, a study shows that the first week of August is the deadliest time to be in a hospital because that is when recent medical student graduates enter the hospitals for their first job. It is also a time of vacationing for experienced doctors.

This is quite frightening due to the fact that a lot of people will probably check into hospital in August from car accidents and they may not be receiving experienced care. Fatality rates in hospitals shoot up to 6 percent higher during this week.

Moral of the story – use extra caution when driving in August to avoid hospitals.

Follow these driving tips:

• Stay off the roads between midnight and 3 a.m. on Sundays because that is when a lot of people are driving home from social outings, and may be drunk.

• Drive on Tuesdays! This is reportedly the safest day of the week to drive.

• The lowest numbers of crashes happen between 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. If you are awake at that hour, it’s a great time to drive!

• Slow down.

• Most importantly – DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.
