Davis Law Group Celebrates National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

Updated on: 2/26/2019

It’s no secret that we love our national safety months at Davis Law Group. Nationwide awareness events give safety advocates a chance to work together to promote important messages. This May, we’re hoping to bring our community of traffic safety educators together to promote National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

This year’s wet, icy winter kept bikers around the Puget Sound off the road. With the gloom finally lifting over Seattle, May is the perfect month to get serious about motorcycle safety. We’re getting information out to people who have been injured in a motorcycle accident about how to protect their legal rights when they’re involved in a conflict with an insurance company or driver.

Schedule of Events

May 1st-May 31st: The entire month of May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Traffic safety advocates across the nation will be organizing events online and on the road to increase awareness of motorcycle safety.

Saturday, May 3rd: The first Saturday in May is International Female Ride Day, a worldwide event designed to promote the visibility of female riders and unite women riders across borders. Events will be happening all over the world.

Events In and Around Seattle

Wednesday, May 3rd: The first Wednesday of the month is Old Bike Night in Georgetown. Check out these classic bikes owned by the Northwest's premiere vintage motorcycle collector and enthusiast's club.

Friday, May 5th-Sunday, May 7th: Check out Washington state’s only professional motorcycle hill climb event at the Northwest Nitro National Hillclimb in Sunnyside, Washington. Opportunities to try a 800 foot climb are available for amateurs and semi-professionals on the 5th. Professionals will be riding on the 6th and 7th.

Friday, May 5th: Celebrate International Female Ride Day with the Flock to the Rock. Riders will meet up in Edmonds, Washington and take one of several routes for rides on the 5th and 6th. Organizers are asking interested riders to pre-register to reserve a spot.

Saturday, May 6th: Want to learn how to camp without taking your car along? Head to Oregon for Moto-Camping 101, an overnight event hosted by a rider who’s travelled from the Arctic Circle to South America. The event will take place at the Chinook Group Campsite within Milo McIver State Park. Spots are limited, so make sure to get your ticket in advance.

Saturday, May 6th-Sunday, May 7th: Enjoy a poker run, live music, a raffle, a swap meet, and vendors at motorcycle-focused event Rockin’ the Red Horse in Ellensburg, Washington.

Sunday, May 7th: Enjoy a club meeting and ride organized by the Washington State BMW Riders.

Wednesday, May 10th: If you like cafe racers, rat bikes, vintage motorcycles, scooters, or mopeds, check out Grit City Motorcycle Night in Tacoma, Washington. Grit City Moto holds monthly events on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

Wednesday, May 10th: Get together with other bike riders for a barbeque and bench racing at Wednesday Night Bike Night, hosted by Seattle Used Bikes.

Saturday, May 13th: Northwest Freedom Riders MC will be hosting the Ride for Fallen Riders in Kingston, Washington. The event will help raise awareness and money for Coffee Oasis, a homeless teen outreach program.

Saturday, May 13th: Ready for a long ride? The Rose City Oregon 500 is a 500-mile tour rally for motorcycles. This marks the tour’s 44th year. This is a tour, not a race, so participants are urged to ride in groups of two to four.

Monday, May 15th-Friday, May 19th: Join the Sound Riders for the 5-day Road Trip GPS Tour through the Pacific Northwest. The tour will include stops at museums and restaurants, plus trips to ancient hot pools, excellent view spots, and other unexpected gems in the region.

Saturday, May 20th: Join Gary Marcil's Memorial Rolling Aces in Rainier, Oregon to benefit a great cause: a grief camp for children. Event organizers are requesting $10 a hand.

Saturday, May 20th: Meet other women who ride and grab food and drinks at the monthly Lady Riders Meet and Greet.

Monday, May 22nd: Want to ride at the racetrack? Ready to take your riding skills to the next level in a controlled environment? Come to Optimum Performance Rider Training at The Ridge for safety classes for all skill levels.

Thursday, May 25th: Get away this Memorial Day Weekend with a Ride to Whistler followed by a stay in a luxurious chalet. This event was planned by the Western Washington Lady Riders, but it’s a co-ed event.

Sunday, May 28th: Support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of British Columbia with the West Coast Ride to Live. Ride routes begin in Vancouver and Chilliwack; the tour concludes with a celebration at UFV Abbotsford.
