SUV rollover near Benton City
One woman was injured after she fell asleep at the wheel and lost control over her sport utility vehicle on Interstate 82. Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved, but then plan to ticket the driver for second-degree negligent driving. The injured woman was treated and released from a local hospital.
Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run
A motorcyclist was struck and killed on I-5 in the early hours of Saturday morning by a car that was speeding when it drifted out of its lane. Troopers do not have information about the make and model of the car, but they believe that it was black and that it may have damage to its front end. They are asking witnesses to call 253-538-3176.
Bicyclist dies in possible DUI crash
A man who was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of the road near Freeland was struck and killed by a car. Troopers believe that the car drove out of its land and onto the shoulder, where it hit him. The driver was booked into the Island County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
Motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run crash
A motorcycle rider was injured when a driver in a pickup truck made a left turn in front of him. He was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of the pickup truck. He sustained serious injuries in the crash. The driver of the truck involved in the crash, a man from Seattle, left the scene and was later apprehended by police, He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of two parole violations, vehicular assault, and hit-and-run.

One rider dies in motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist from Richland died after his bike went off the road on the I-182 ramp heading into Pasco. Washington State Patrol officers do not believe that any one vehicle was involved in the crash. The rider was wearing his helmet. Excessive speed around the curve is believed to be the cause of the wreck.
Two injured in Chelan County
Two people were injured after their vehicle was rear-ended by a car on U.S. Highway 2 near Leavenworth. Their vehicle had slowed for traffic when they were rear-ended by the car behind them. One was taken to a local hospital, treated, and released; the other sustained injuries but was not transported to a hospital. Washington State Patrol troopers plan to cite the driver of the vehicle that rear-ended them for following to close.

Car flips into drive-thru yogurt restaurant
A three-car pile-up in Puyallup sent an SUV careening into a frozen yogurt restaurant. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department believes that drugs were likely involved in the crash, which began when a 42-year-old driver went through an intersection, hit the curb and multiple trees, and flipped over, striking two cars that were waiting in line at the drive-thru. No one was injured in the crash.

Man convicted in fatal Thurston County crash
Patrick L. Martin Jr., of Seattle, was sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison for causing the death of a woman when he crashed his vehicle into hers on Interstate 5. He pleaded guilty in June to driving under the influence and vehicular homicide. After the crash, he told state troopers that he had fallen asleep at the wheel and awoke too late to avoid crashing into the victim’s car.

Motorcyclist killed in collision with truck
A motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a box truck on Highway 16 in Tacoma near the Union Avenue exit. According to Washington State Patrol troopers, the motorcyclist had been cited less than 5 minutes before the crash for driving 81 miles per hour in a 60 miles per hour zone.

Serious injuries in crash that shut down I-90
All eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were closed near Preston after a car collided with a semi-truck. The driver of the car involved was trapped in the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. Witnesses say that the driver of the car, an 18-year-old, lost control of her vehicle and swerved across the freeway, where she was struck by the semi-truck. Some witnesses have reported that another vehicle swerved into the driver’s path, causing her to lose control. The Washington State Patrol is still searching for information on the cause of the collision, and has asked any witnesses to call 425-401-7717.
Motorcyclist dies in Everett
A motorcycle accident resulted in a man being killed on Highway 526 when a car slammed into his bike. The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, is cooperating with the police. Investigators have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Man sentenced to 7 years for DUI crash
A 27-year-old man from Gig Harbor slammed into a car in Seattle in March, killing the driver. Police found that his blood alcohol content after the car accident was 0.20, more than twice the legal limit for drivers of 0.08. On Friday, he was sentenced to over 7 years in prison for his role in the crash, which involved four vehicles, including an ambulance.
